about

Like Sand was inspired from the desire to soak up the present moment, which can feel so fleeting amongst the juggle of life and kids growing at the rate of knots. It is a tender reflective song about not wanting any regrets. Dave Mann is on lead vocals, Bec Schofield on harmonies, Sammy Liddon on upright bass and Eliot Smith on drums; it features Albert Gray on electric guitar which nudges the song into a rocky direction yet the melodic pedal steel that Dave Mann plays brings it back to a country feel and the overall sound sits just right.

lyrics

LIKE SAND

Innocence in your eyes
And the way you look up at mine
Those first little steps on the limestone
And the doorframe marks you’ve grow
Cold winter mornings, huddled in bed
Those funny things you said

I don’t wanna waste these moments
Before they slip right through like sand
I don’t want regret when I’m on the other side
And I can’t turn back time

I shoulda put tools down and played
I’ve been striving anxiously
Do I give you the love, that you need?
I better start before it’s too late

All those questions that fell on distracted ears
I acted as if I could turn back the years
