about

'Green Shoots' encapsulates the essence of THE NOMADICS’ & their soon to be released album 'Green Shoots from Dead Wood' which surpasses all their other magic thus far. Essentially it is about radical hope and life’s stubborn resilience in the wake of devastation. Like when a bushfire sweeps through and annihilates country which then regenerates, sometimes life can rip through us emotionally. This song emerged just like green shoots springing from the blackened bush when THE NOMADICS were recovering from loss.
Three part harmonies, banjo, acoustic guitar, upright bass and a rich drum sound drive this song with a fantastic old world country folk sound.

lyrics

I feel the music in my soul filling up again. Like rain upon the desert sand. Not a day too soon. I went sailing on a dream. I poured everything in. But she was rotten to the core. I was sinking down
I held a diamond, it turned out to be coal. Some things aren't what they seem or what it all means. I got burnt. I have learnt. It all works out as it should. Green shoots from the dead wood. Green shoots from the dead wood. Red lights on and a warning bell. Blessings in disguise I can tell. Now Im picking up the pieces. That were shattered on the floor. Gonna sing me up a new song. Better than before.
