Green Shoots 03:43
I feel the music in my soul filling up again. Like rain upon the desert sand. Not a day too soon. I went sailing on a dream. I poured everything in. But she was rotten to the core. I was sinking down I held a diamond, it turned out to be coal. Some things aren't what they seem or what it all means. I got burnt. I have learnt. It all works out as it should. Green shoots from the dead wood. Green shoots from the dead wood. Red lights on and a warning bell. Blessings in disguise I can tell. Now Im picking up the pieces. That were shattered on the floor. Gonna sing me up a new song. Better than before.

Like Sand 03:47
LIKE SAND Innocence in your eyes And the way you look up at mine Those first little steps on the limestone And the doorframe marks you’ve grow Cold winter mornings, huddled in bed Those funny things you said I don’t wanna waste these moments Before they slip right through like sand I don’t want regret when I’m on the other side And I can’t turn back time I shoulda put tools down and played I’ve been striving anxiously Do I give you the love, that you need? I better start before it’s too late All those questions that fell on distracted ears I acted as if I could turn back the years

Dreamtracks 06:27
Dreaming I walked the desert, with my sisters I sung the land melody guides our footsteps , held in boodja’s hands from the land we drank so deep, eyes shining… we were free. Woke with tears on my cheeks that morning, those tracks in the sand were gone, when the lands not sung she’s wasting, like a mother who’s been left all alone, somethings broken, no way home Give me something to hold on to… give me something to hold… cos I’m slipping slipping through, I am lost, with no songs to guide me home. Past the hills hoist at nan’s place, she planted a tree when dad was born, familiar landmark round that bend, that gravel road now a six lane highway, high-rise stands on that sacred place Give me something to hold on to… give me something to hold… cos I’m slipping slipping through, I am lost Dreaming tracks in the sand, threads to the land, been blowing away, Boodja took my hand, she gave me a dream, its the one thing they will never take away. Bardi Jawi saltwater country, Bolo walked us along the coast, fireside he sung our journey, from the land he drunk so deep, without his song theres no ground under his feet Give me give, me something to hold on to… give me something to hold…cos I’m slipping slipping through, I am lost, without the songs to guide me home, you gave me a song to guide me home, is that song alive or gone.

Rebellion 03:39
REBELLION I smell foul silt from industrial age, while you shame us all on the world stage you’re actin blind putting future in a grave deny the truth, deny the brave rebellion Poisoned the breeze with ferocious speed entire balance in jeopardy torn songlines with longlines and arrogant greed raping sacred with monopolies rebellion Chorus You don’t speak for me Our kiwi neighbours showing how its done .. making peace with first nations, trust over guns they’re taking action for future generations I hear the nannas ringing the bells alarm is raised 100 decibels all we want is to prevent hell you spend millions tryin to quell rebellion Chorus You don’t speak for me … …………………………………………………. I see flags waving there will be millions more the voice of resistance won’t be ignored the youth are a wedge in and a rapidly closing door..…. Rebellion x 3 Chorus You don’t speak for me x 2
6.
The kids are standing up Taking back what has been stolen Crowds on the streets Beating a drum of resistance Singing a song of rebellion Don’t look back, don’t look back Its just the beginning and your time to stand Don’t look back don’t look back You’re miles in front of those heads in the sand You've been given a house thats burning They keep saying nothings wrong The tide of change is turning And now you're left to clean it up You’ve taken the reigns on a horse that has bolted You bravely steer the change while politicians falter You’re cleaning up the shame though you're not to blame And still they cut you down

Beacon 05:15
Well their love is deep and wide, like the sea that they love They have stood the test of time, through thick and thin Salty tears, red wine, sun kissed hands entwined On their their faces read the lines They’re the heart of the family They keep an ocean of memories When the storms come, and they always do They know laughter will see them through They're a beacon in a wild sea When their youngest had turned three, and he still could not speak Friends stopped coming round, the questions came Growing fears, dark signs, scary voices in his mind Mum and dad, the only ones, who could understand Heavy shoulders... anyone could break Walking through flames… but they always find laughter in the rain
8.
She sits there every Friday in her yellow raincoat Cold steps of parliament house She's calling on the leaders of the world to make change Cos time’s running… She’s a singing bowl, ringing out across the world She's on a quest to save our earth She's a spark within the storm and its catching on Loud and clear, can you hear the children call She stands up every Friday now you know she's not alone Theres millions of children and their number growing strong They try to cut her down What kind of world have we got? where the children are the wise ones What kind of world have we here where the children fear
9.
On and On 05:21
So glad for you in this wild world Theres a new leaf ready to unfurl I feel it rise inside cracks me open wide Rock and water rolling river On and On On and On On and On Im a wooden box, carved and locked and velvet lined You’re the brass key heavy in the hands of morning light Rock and water rolling river I need a hundred life times To show my love to you When this wild world spins me round My Darlin you’re my gravity When a storm is raging way up in my cloud You’re the staircase so i can find my way back down Rock and water rolling river

about

We’d love to deeply acknowledge both the Wadandi & Whadjuk mobs, the lands on which this album was inspired & recorded. We honour our own precious koolangas/children Gracie, Molly, Ned as well as our mob of family & friends, kindreds & legendary supporters (inc. regional arts WA ) - we seek to stand on the right side of history & hope it is enough.
Thank you to the sound wizards who worked on this album inc. James Newhouse & Elliot Smith. To Charlie, Tilly & Sammy for your easygoing grace, musical magic & friendship.
This album emerged out of the ashes of the black summer of 2019/2020 like Green Shoots from Dead Wood. These are songs of resistance, resilience & radical hope. Songs for our time. The Wadandi mob teach us that if we look after country she’ll look after us. May this music help inspire this intimacy with boodja/country so we may love & protect her as we would family/moort.
