Georgette Rescue

My name is Yebbel, better known as Sam Isaacs
I was born in Augusta 1845
My fame came later, with a daughter of Wallcliffe House
I worked as a stockman down by the river mouth
My mother was a native, my dad was a sailor man
I knew the heathland and the tracks like the back of my hand
Chorus
I've been overshadowed
I was there in the shallows
We dragged 38 soaking wet
Now I am the one they forget
One day I saw her flailing, the bow turned into the wind
She was taking on water, heading for Davy Jones crib
I ran like lightning, and rang the bell back at the homestead
With young Grace Vernon Bussel, we rode on a gallant thoroughbred
Through the surf, foaming white, that morning we paid our dues
Heroin in the headlines, S.S Georgette rescue
Chorus
On her blouse a silver pin, bronze hangin' on my chest
the colours match that of our skin, and I gave my best
Chorus

Moreton Bay
04:21
|
|||
One Sunday morning as I went walking
By Brisbane waters I chanced to stray
I heard a prisoner his fate bewailing
As on the sunny river bank he lay
I am a native of Erin's island
Transported now from my native shore
They tore me from my aged parents
And from the maiden whom I adore
I've been a prisoner at Port Macquarie
At Norfolk Island and Emu Plains
At Castle Hill and cursed Toongabbie
At all those settlements I've worked in chains
But of all places of condemnation
And penal stations of New South Wales
Of Moreton Bay I have found no equal
Excessive tyranny each day prevails
For three long years I was beastly treated
And heavy irons on my legs I wore
My back from flogging was lacerated
And often painted with my crimson gore
And many a man from downright starvation
Lies mouldering now underneath the clay
And Captain Logan he had us mangled
At the triangles in Moreton Bay
Like the Egyptians and ancient Hebrews
We were oppressed under Logan's yoke
Till a native black lying there in ambush
Did give this tyrant his mortal stroke
My fellow prisoners be exhilarated
That all such monsters such a death may find
And when from bondage we're liberated
Our former sufferings shall fade from mind

Living the Dream
03:49
|
|||
I'm holding a candle , keeping me warm
Lighting up the shadows of a wilderness
Humbled and blessed
I keep on walking, treading by feel
My heart is moth to the glow up ahead
Unfaltering steps
I'm living the dream yet to come
Already pinching my skin
I've got what i need
I've planted a seed
I'm living the dream yet to come
It seems so close, I can taste the salt
I hear the honeyed sounds of my kids on the beach
No doubts in me
Slice through the blue, with silence and grace
Cradled to sleep, by the roll of the sea
Rested and healed
Chorus
I love what i've got I couldn't want for more
One foot in the sea and the other on the shore
The wind is a healer, i'm a billowed sail
Deal another round, It's blowing a gale
Chorus

Magic Weaver
04:59
|
|||
I'm riding along
In a big blue truck
I'm writing a song
thats changing,
changing my luck
Cos I've been feeling shadows
bearing down, my roots have been
searching, no water to be found
and the meteor of motherhood
has tilted me profoundly
Well the judge in my head's
had too much to say
It's been wearing me down
telling him to go away
Ive been leaning on you
and wondering why
I was getting lost
couldn't see my own sky
when all we want is to be seen
nothing in between
Give and you'll receive her
I'm a believer, the universe
she's a magic weaver
I've been taking the time
to breathe in deep
I've been laying the ground
magic to reap
My branches meander into the unknown
I move by the feel and I feel that I have grown
and all we want is to be seen
nothing in between
So give and you'll receive her
I'm a believer, the universe
she's a magic weaver x 2
But it screams to me
Smoke and mirrors
Coming in between you and me
So much distance
So give and you'll receive her
I'm a believer, the universe
she's a magic weaver x 2

Medicine Country
04:14
|
|||
Brolgas are dancing
Salmon are running in the bay
But we have been stranded
and you have been too far away
White bellied eagle
red earth and ocean blue
wash all my demons away
bringing me closer to you
Medicine, medicine country
I hold you now as you hold me
Medicine, medicine Country
Campfire is burning
babies have finally hit the hay
starting to breathe now
dark clouds are clearing away
Stories are flowing free
emu man clear as day
and your eyes are glowing
bright as the milky way
Medicine, medicine country
I hold you now as you hold me
Medicine, medicine Country
